Playtex Hip Hammock Standard Black/Black

Playtex Hip Hammock Standard Black/BlackI mentioned this carrier on Halloween night a few days ago.  But I thought I’d do a review as we have had so many people just love this baby carrier.

The Playtex Hip Hammock is not recommended for a newborn and it isn’t the tradition sling carrier. Instead, it is to help aid you carrying your baby on your hip. It is both compact and light. Therefore, once rolled up, it is good for traveling. Unlike some of the carriers with a lot of straps or buckles, this carrier has been known for its ease to get on and off.   Some of the bad reviews don’t take into account that it isn’t meant to replace your other baby carriers, instead it is only meant to aid you in holding your toddler on your hip.

This is what the manufacturer has to say:

Preferable to a stroller in crowded public areas, this child carrier holds baby right next to a parent at a comfortable level for viewing her surroundings. Unlike many other carriers, this one balances baby on one hip instead of directly in front of the body. The benefits are that it is easier to walk or do household tasks without baby’s legs limiting Mom’s motion or her body blocking Mom’s reach. In addition, the side-carrying design is much easier on the back.  (To read more, see their amazon page …)

this helped me survive a deployment!
I would give this 10 stars if I could! When my husband deployed last year, I had 4 kids at home– a 6, 4, & 2 year old, plus a 3 month baby.

My wife and I bought this sling to use because neither of us could tolerate the back aches from our baby bjorn carrier.

We used the hip hammock for our daughter from about 10 months until 19 months, and it has been a great experience for all of us, Mom, Dad and Baby.

This is a terrific — much easier to use and more comfortable than the front carriers. Only complaint is if you wear the shoulder strap as they show in the picture, when you…

So glad I found this carrier
My almost 10-month old daughter loves to be carried, but as she’s gotten bigger, carrying her has gotten a bit more difficult.
